CFB Wainwright Response Prompts Code Orange at Several Alberta Hospitals

Acute Care Alberta says Code Orange has been activated at several acute care facilities across the province as emergency teams respond to the incident at CFB Wainwright.
In a public statement, the provincial health agency urged Albertans to use emergency care resources wisely while medical teams support those affected.
The agency said the response requires substantial resources from Emergency Health Services–Alberta and emergency departments in the Edmonton area.
Hospitals Respond to Increased Care Needs
Acute Care Alberta said the hospital activations are intended to help meet immediate needs arising from the Wainwright incident while maintaining care for other patients requiring emergency treatment.
The agency said it continues to support emergency responders and care providers. The statement shown did not identify the affected hospitals, provide a patient count or specify the additional measures being implemented.
Emergency Response Follows Military Base Fire
The health response follows a fire at CFB Wainwright on October 17. Defence Minister David McGuinty confirmed that the incident caused deaths and injuries, with emergency personnel working alongside provincial and municipal authorities.
