Halk TV raid halts broadcast as trustee is appointed

Turkish police raided the Istanbul headquarters of Halk TV, the country’s main independent television channel, on Wednesday, 14 October, halting its live broadcast, the channel said on X.

The channel said in a post: “Police are in the Halk TV building. A court-appointed administrator has been assigned to Halk TV, Turkey’s independent and impartial news channel.”
