Federal Reserve approves Isabella Bank Corporation’s acquisition of Grand River Commerce

The Federal Reserve Board has approved an application by Isabella Bank Corporation of Mount Pleasant, Michigan, clearing a major regulatory hurdle in its planned acquisition of Grand River Commerce, Inc. and Grand River Bank.
The transaction, announced in June, is valued at approximately $54.6 million and will expand Isabella Bank’s presence into the Grand Rapids area and Kent County.
Under the proposed deal, Grand River Commerce will merge into Isabella Bank Corporation, while Grand River Bank will merge into Isabella Bank, with Isabella continuing as the surviving institution.
The combined company is expected to have about $2.8 billion in total assets and operate 33 locations across nine Michigan counties.
The transaction had been expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to shareholder approval and other customary closing conditions.
The Federal Reserve’s approval removes one of the key regulatory conditions needed for the merger to proceed.
