SBI investigating deputy-involved shooting

The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is reviewing a New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office deputy-involved shooting which occurred Thursday morning.

NHCSO responded to a 9-1-1 call about a suspicious vehicle on Bozeman Lane.

In a statement released by the sheriff’s office, a spokesperson said deputies approached the vehicle and after a confrontation the suspect attempted to flee.

During the incident, a deputy was nearly struck by the car. A deputy fired at the vehicle. The suspect fled the scene traveling on Carolina Beach Road.
