San Joaquin County sheriff to share update in Tracy father kidnapping and murder case

The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office is holding a news conference on Wednesday to deliver a "significant update" in a kidnapping and murder case.

Official response and confirmed impact

In February, three people kidnapped Avtar Singh from a Sikh temple in Tracy.

His body was found three days later, more than 100 miles away near Lake Berryessa.

Singh lived on the temple grounds with his wife and children, including a set of triplets born shortly before his kidnapping.

At the time, investigators said they believed Singh was a victim of mistaken identity.

The news conference is scheduled for noon, and authorities will release further information at that time.
