A Tornado Warning is in effect for Amarillo, Bishop Hills and Cliffside, Texas, until 10:15 p.m. CDT Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

The warning indicates a radar-detected tornado threat, with pea-sized hail also possible.

Approximately 219,676 people, 70 schools and 10 hospitals are located within the warned area.

Residents in Amarillo and surrounding communities should take shelter immediately in a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building and stay away from windows.
