What you need to know: Governor Newsom today signed legislation to make law his successful emergency actions that have fast-tracked and simplified more than 500 critical wildfire-prevention projects and expanded prescribed and cultural burning and training.

The legislative package also works to lower the up-front cost of making homes more fire-resistant and supports new tools to prevent and fight wildfires.

Governor Newsom, joined by CAL FIRE firefighters, today signed legislation to protect Californians from wildfire by speeding up fire mitigation projects, making it easier to protect homes and communities, and investing in new innovative tools to prevent and fight fires.

The laws build on the Governor and Legislature’s unprecedented wildfire preparedness investments and come as the state has fast-tracked more than 500 priority prevention projects covering nearly 130,000 acres.
