What Houston should know about rain Hurricane Polo will bring to Texas this week
Hurricane Polo, one of the strongest storms to emerge out of the eastern Pacific Ocean this year, is moving across the Gulf of California toward northwestern Mexico, while moisture from its remnants is helping set up several days of rain and a flash flood risk in Texas.
Warning areas and potential impact
In the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, Fay has regained tropical storm strength for a third time, while Tropical Storm Hanna is holding steady.
Neither storm poses a threat to land. Fay is expected to weaken later Tuesday.
The more immediate concern is the flood threat developing across Texas, where watches are already in effect in parts of the state.
Heavy rainfall risk builds across Texas Moisture from Polo’s remnants, a slow-moving front and an upper-level disturbance will bring several days of rain to parts of Texas.

The greatest flood concerns are across Central and North Texas.
A flood watch for a broad swath of Texas, including San Antonio, Austin and the Dallas-Fort Worth area will be in effect from Wednesday afternoon through at least Thursday and, farther south, into Friday.
