Man dead after domestic violence call turns fatal in Natchez, Mississippi, police say

A domestic violence call escalated into a deadly altercation early Sunday morning at an apartment complex in Natchez, according to authorities.

Officers with the Natchez Police Department were initially dispatched to Oak Ridge Manor Apartments about a reported domestic violence incident.

When police arrived, they found a victim with visible injuries consistent with an assault.

Investigators identified the suspect as Nicholas Jarrell, who had fled the scene before officers arrived.

While police were searching the surrounding area, authorities say Jarrell returned to the victim’s apartment and forced his way inside.

A second altercation broke out inside the residence, during which Jarrell was stabbed in the chest, police said.

Officers and emergency medical personnel responded to render aid, but Jarrell was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim was taken to the Natchez Police Department for an interview and to receive assistance.
