Towson University on lockdown after shooting reported on York Road in Maryland — Towson, Maryland

Towson University is under a lockdown order Sunday evening following a nearby shooting, according to Baltimore County Police.

Officers are on the scene of a shooting in the 8000 block of York Road. A man was transported to an area hospital, officials said.

"We ask that you avoid the immediate area as officers work to safely resolve this incident," officials with the police department said.

The university is directing everyone on campus to shelter in place, close windows and doors, and report anything unusual to police.
