Illinois Drops Big Ten Opener at Ohio State

Illinois dropped its Big Ten opener to Ohio State, 42-19, on Saturday afternoon in Ohio Stadium.

Aidan Laughery carried the ball 11 times for 113 yards. Katin Houser went 21-37 for 263 yards and a touchdown.

Ohio State (3-1, 1-0 Big Ten) quarterback Julian Sayin completed 27-36 passes for 367 yards and five total touchdowns and wide receiver Jeremiah Smith caught 12 passes for 217 yards and four scores.

Illinois (2-2, 0-1 Big Ten) returns home to Gies Memorial Stadium to host Purdue next Saturday for Homecoming.

The Illini will look to keep The Cannon Trophy in Champaign for a third straight season.
