VIDEO: Madison, Wisconsin garage fire displaces 7 residents, 4 pets

Fire response and evacuations

This fire left seven residents and four pets displaced in Madison.

It spread to other living spaces in the house, Madison Fire Department spokesperson Cynthia Schuster confirmed to News 3 Now.

Firefighters found significant fire venting from the first and second floor windows.

Crews flowed water through the windows and knocked down most of the active fire inside. Multiple crews suppressed the remainder of the garage fire.

Search and rescue was performed. Firefighters continued to cool hot spots for an extended period of time.

Two cats remain unaccounted for, and firefighters believe they may have escaped. One is a gray female named Macy.

The fire in the 600 block of Burdette Court, near Badger Park, was reported at 6:43 p.m.
