A tragic accident took place on Tuesday morning near Semmanguppam, close to Chidambaram in Tamil Nadu’s Cuddalore district, when a school van collided with a moving passenger train, leaving two students dead.

According to initial reports, the school van was attempting to cross an unmanned railway crossing when it was struck by the train. The van was carrying several schoolchildren at the time of the crash.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene, and the injured were taken to a nearby hospital. The identities of the deceased students have not yet been officially released.

Local authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the accident. The lack of safety measures at unmanned crossings in the region has sparked public concern and renewed calls for stricter regulations and infrastructure upgrades.
