Watch as a Columbia University graduates wears zip ties and one ripping up her own diploma during the college graduation ceremony in Manhattan, New York, on Sunday afternoon.
The graduate student protester tore the degree certificate belonging to the university’s School of Social Work, describing the act as a form of protest against Columbia University’s alleged “complicity in the ongoing genocide in Gaza.” Prior to this, several PhD students at Columbia also walked out of the ceremony while others hold a pice of paper with a Palestine flag.
