University of Colorado lockdown: Death investigation bear Alpine Village following shooting

The University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, is on lockdown after reports of a shooting. At least one person has been reported dead, but little information is yet available.

University officials wrote on Twitter, now X: “Lockdown! Lock interior doors. Turn out the lights. Move away from sight. Do not open the door. Maintain silence. Evade/Defend.” That was posted just after 7 a.m. local time, with an update going out about 10 minutes later that reads: “Lockdown UPDATE NO active shooter, please continue to shelter in place on campus until further notice. Campus closed today.”
