Police: Second shooting this week in Jennings

Jennings police say they are looking for a suspect in a Thursday night shooting, which left a Jennings man wounded. The shooting marks the second one since Saturday. Police Chief Danny Semmes said police officers encountered the victim around 8 p.m. Thursday when he drove in front of the officers and stopped near the intersection of La. 26 and West Division Street.
When officers approached the vehicle, the driver told them he had been shot. The victim was transported to the Ochsner American Legion Hospital and was later airlifted to a Lafayette trauma center.
He remained in stable condition Friday morning where he was scheduled to undergo surgery, Semmes said. As the victim was waiting to be transported to the hospital, officers began receiving reports of shots being fired in the 200-block of West Wills Street near the parish fairgrounds. Officers responding to the area found evidence of shots being fired on West Willis Street, and several casings were found on the scene along with other evidence in the area, Semmes said.
