Suspected Junta Airstrike Hits Monastery in Myanmar, Killing at Least 28

At least 28 people were killed and dozens more injured early Friday after a suspected airstrike by Myanmar’s military junta targeted a monastery in the village of Lintalu in Sagaing region, according to local media reports.
The attack occurred in the early hours of the morning, striking a religious compound where civilians were reportedly sheltering. Images circulating online show significant damage to the building and bodies being pulled from the rubble.
Sagaing, a stronghold of resistance against the military regime, has faced repeated air and ground assaults in recent months as the junta intensifies its crackdown on opposition strongholds.
Human rights groups have condemned the repeated targeting of civilian areas, particularly places of worship and schools.
The Myanmar military has not yet commented on the strike.
